there are so many lovely qualities to the character 'amy dorrit' that the director must have issued a big sigh of relief when settling on actress claire foy. she had to bring to life one of charles dickens most delicate creations from his novel 'little dorrit.' amy is both capable and fragile, smart yet quiet. most importantly she is the possessor of a very pure heart. in her portrayal of what can truly be described as 'the best sort of person', claire foy was perfect.
