alice b. toklas was the life partner of revolutionary writer gertrude stein. gertrude's books and salon drew in the great artists of the day and she is going down in history as a very unique person. just read about her life to discover the wonderful talents that she allowed into her realm. alice appears to be a shy woman who was perhaps a great comfort and inspiration. she apparently kicked ass in the baking department as her recipe for pot brownies has secured her immortality. she outlived gertrude and sadly watched as gertrude's relatives stripped the walls of the home they shared of it's incredible art collection.

in 1987, the movie 'waiting for the moon' starred linda hunt as alice.
