give me something real

there is one title that tops any list of 'kitchen sink dramas', the realistic kind of film that led the new wave of british cinema of the 1960's. published in 1958, alan sillitoe's novel, 'saturday night and sunday morning' led to what is understood to be the quintessential film of the genre. grinning his way through the grim workplace, the cramped housing and the secretive goings on is one of the great actors, albert finney.
as englishmen, the rolling stones knew very well the constraints endured by their, 'salt of the earth', yet however small were their dreams to be realized, the nobility of existence crosses any geographical boundaries. watching the film is a very 'real' experience by which i mean you can 'feel' the warmth when one character joins another under the blanket.
as finney's 'arthur' and his girlfriend exit the cinema you can see the poster for 'pillow talk.' hollywood must have seemed ten million miles away.
