he did it his way

what a far out still considering his song, 'my way.' frank sinatra had many highs and lows in his legendary career, both as a singer and an actor. he kinda rearranges my mind once in awhile. it still surprises me that i love listening to him (the nelson riddle orchestration) as i really did not relate to my mom's loving him. however, we grow up and start to like things whether our parents did or not.
this image is from 'the man with the golden arm', a serious film about addiction. the big score came for sinatra with his role in 'from here to eternity' which won him an oscar. there are plenty of rumors: did ava gardner help him get that role which resurrected his acting career or did he bash someone's head in? i will never know that answer...

his tarnished image of mafia connections and 'woman' abuser did skew my faith in his worth in totality. Same goes for joan crawford. deep down i know they were truly gifted but domestically its sad to imagine that could be the case.

in regards to the wonderful nelson riddle and his orchestra, pal joey and sinatra will always be a staple, but lets not forget nelson's other astonishing connections with greats like ella, the divine peggy lee, linda ronstadt, and dean martin.

pal, i share in your ambivalence about mr.sinatra, and of course you are more aware of nelson riddle's history as well :)

no i am not! i only know his score of kubrick's 'lolita' (amazingly appropriate) and what he did with frank. i shall keep my ears open.
