counting one's blessings

happy earth day part two. back in 1962 actor ray milland directed 'panic in the year zero.' how cool that when his opportunity to direct came he made a 'freak out' film. it is an insightful tale of warning, just in case the large city you live in must be evacuated and you need to know how to survive up in the mountains with your family. the versatile jean hagen plays his wife and mother of two cool kids, including pop crush frankie avalon as the son.
living outside of society in the very same hills that ray's family set up camp are a couple of killers. young and dumb, they sadly evoke juvenile delinquents, which sheds an unfair light on teenage misfits. among all the stress of keeping the family safe during a national emergency, ray has to deal with illiterate lunatics.
evacuations have surely occurred and it is always a good idea to consider how best to maintain one's sanity during extreme events.
earth day is meant to celebrate and honor our home planet. while observing the troubled environment it would be great to hold onto one's sense of reason without allowing panic or lamentation to bring the focus off intelligence and overburden the emotions.
three cheers for doing your best.
happy earth day once again!

yes, a discipline to practice daily to avert pandemonium in this very large planet we all share! if everyone in the world could take couple of minutes out of their day to think, imagine, focus on our environment and connect to our primal survival instincts to love ourselves and others, that would be swell!
