she's a good little, good little, good little, girl. well, that's what natalie as 'deanie' told her mom (in a mildly hysterical voice) while splashing in the bathtub in the terrifically frustrating story of teens in love called 'splendor in the grass.'

i think it may have been a bit difficult for natalie wood to convince directors that she could indeed play desirous/desirable parts as she was so well known as a child star. even if she may have pushed her way into roles that exhibited a wanton behavior, she was always both convincing and sweet.
