if you don't blink too long you can catch a glimpse of the great buster keaton playing cards with 'the waxworks' (the nickname for retired film stars) in 'sunset boulevard.' i applaud director billy wilder for including him. the fact that buster faded from view while alive is almost ungraspable. alas, by the thirties he was writing for others.
buster never seemed to be doing anything but exhibiting his genius before the camera. he claims he was not really an actor. clearly, he had a lot to teach, such as:

“Think slow, act fast.”

“Tragedy is a close-up; comedy, a long shot.”
