only twice have i fallen on the floor while watching a film. the first time was when buster keaton clapped his hand over his sweetheart's mouth as she slept, so that she wouldn't make a sound when waking. that happened in the privacy of my own home. the second time was in a theatre. i was watching 'girl, interrupted', the story of a group of young women sharing their time and troubles in a psychiatric institution. on a day trip they visit an ice cream parlor. over a heated encounter an ice cream cone gets a little too close for comfort and one of the inmates yells for them to get it out of their face. it was the way it was said. i fell out of my chair.
the actress who delivered the line was brittany murphy who sadly passed away today. i am sending wishes to her now. and gratitude.
