it was far from easy for swedish actress mai britt and sammy davis jr to openly declare their love. but love triumphed and they married. the only film i have ever seen of mai's is called 'the unfaithfuls.' the original title of this 1953 italian movie is 'cavalleria rusticana' which i have a feeling was given a poor translation. another sad fact is that it is considered a comedy. it is one of my fave films. gina lollobrigida's eventual rise to stardom has placed the film in her oeuvre but it is truly mai who ascends over all the betrayal and punishment among a group of socialites who risk the welfare of others in their attempts to test loves dangerous ways. it is wise, far from funny, and mai's second film.
