your children's dreams

as the mother of this story sadly witnesses the dreams of her children depending on the insurance check from her husband's death, so do we. in this stunningly acted drama, which mostly takes place in the cramped apartment the 'younger' family shares, greed, desire, grief and dreams come pouring out of five unique individuals who are essentially very good people reacting to the idea of coming into way more money than they ever had before. sidney poitier is surrounded by a ridiculously wonderful cast. he shines like the beacon that he always is above their talented heads. 1961's 'a raisin in the sun' is a classic, so give in to the experience of watching a family realize their highest natures.

money and its power does not discriminate! very daring film to showcase this theme. too many stigma's although can perpetuate the african american culture to succumb to how and where the value of money is spent. who are we to judge? looking out for number one is universal.
