they met in 1957 and by 1964 they had successfully driven the world crazy with happiness, so when their first film, 'a hard day's night' came out, we already were in love with the band and even more in love with our favorite. mine was george. a life before the beatles isn't even worth imagining. they changed everything for the better, even making spiritual discovery a cool pursuit. before their personal lives pulled things apart, john, paul, george and ringo were seriously the best thing that ever happened to young people. here is the celluloid to prove how much funnier, more musical, more charming and more youthful what they offered was in the face of the world of music now. 'a hard day's night' is not a sad slice of nostalgia but a gorgeously shot black and white frolic full of scripted naturalness. shiny hair rocks. directed by the legendary richard lester.
