flowers in your hair
once i watched a peter sellers interview where he went through dozens of characters voices in about one minute without missing a beat. he was a genius in whatever category that might be. he always strikes me as an aristocrat out for a rocking good time of it, like william powells role in 'my man godfrey.' his brilliance goes somewhere very deep in the humor department.
in 1968 he starred in a hit flower power frolic called, 'i love you, alice b. toklas.' the not so funny memoirs of writer gertrude stein's life long partner became a comic dip into hip as a result of alice's recipe for 'haschich fudge.' like a pinball, peter bounces from an engagement to a 'straight' woman to an absolute plunge into the wacky (she does yoga) wonderful world of quintessential beautiful hippie, leigh taylor young. what man wouldn't, given the chance.
leigh is perfection in her role, peter is in a class of his own, and jo van fleet, as the suffering intended is great. and yes, he gives brownies to his mother.
