'we are painters, jackson!'

as a painter i grew up on a diet of rene magritte. i placed the name 'pollack' into a drawer to hang with kerouac, knowing i would open the drawer in time. director ed harris, did it for me. i am very grateful to the actor i had long associated with astronauts.
coming from a 'figurative' background, i admit that abstract art puzzles me, though one of my friends is an abstract painter and we communicate just fine. what ed harris did was humanize the painter jackson pollack in a way that brought me comfortably close to his art.
in this biopic made in 2000, marcia gay harden plays jackson's wife, artist lee krasner, and her performance blew my little mind.
