that statue moved

french genius, jean cocteau, has long been the 'artist' love of my life. he made drawings and films. he wrote books and plays. he was the surrealist supreme, and i feel sure that no other artist will shine brighter than his star in my firmament.
in 1946 he created a stunning film version of, 'beauty and the beast', but it was his first film, made in 1930, that revealed the images which have inspired me the most. his debut as a filmmaker was, 'BLOOD OF A POET.' it screams 'low budget' like nothing else i've ever seen and it matters not a bit. a true genius is never hampered by lack of funds.
