my left foot

my sister adores the actor daniel day lewis. his willingness to explore different characters keeps everyone looking forward to what he will take on next.
every once in awhile, people come together to tell a story without the need to glamorize. in one of his early films, day lewis played the real life, christy brown, a boy born with cerebral palsy. in time, this man who was bolstered by his indomitable will and his mother's faith, developed the toes of his left foot to the point where he was painting and writing.
the story is astonishing. the performances too. daniel received his first oscar.

Brenda Fricker was the catalyst that launched this film, I think. Her performance was so real and thick that you could understand how daniel day-lewis dropped from her womb, performed miracles to overcome silence to be heard.
