it is all right here

every single ingredient necessary for the ultimate movie experience is right here. elia kazan is a director who just gives it to you in a way that leaves you feeling like you swam the english channel. he is deeply human.
the most famous scene in cinema history is in this 1954 adaptation of budd schulberg's story 'on the waterfront.' schulberg did not invent the word contender but he surely infused it with a deeper meaning. brando's delivery will be with you for the rest of your life.
every one of us knows how it feels to have missed an opportunity. we all know the mind process of trying to frame the heartbreak and file it away. compound that with the need to put integrity before personal gain and pour it into the soul of marlon brando. introduce the lovely eva marie saint as the girlfriend of brando's conflicted 'terry', and tell actor rod steiger that he met his match. just for fun cast lee j. cobb as one hell of a son of a bitch and you will surely be praying for karl malden as he wipes raw egg off his face while preaching to hoods.
for all of those interested in the precious details, watch eva marie saint's face as brando slips his fingers into her white mitten. forget about it.
