heavenly hampstead

near the end of her fifty years as an actress, the irresistible wendy hiller gave a moving performance in an english t.v. production of, 'all passion spent.' if anyone cares to watch beauty age gracefully, here you go.
the t.v. series was based on vita sackville west's very popular novel about the newly widowed 'lady slane', head of a large upper class family. although her married children and their spouses know what's best for a woman in her position, the lady has plans of her own. after a long life of serving her family, she sells the city mansion and decides to rent/refurbish a lovely townhouse in london's northern area of hampstead. 'hampstead?!'
lady slane is the model of patience while listening to the outbursts of those she loves. not only does she uproot herself at her advanced age, she strikes up friendships with colorful characters along the way, including a man she had forgotten sixty years ago.
the story is beautiful. actress wendy hiller was a queen.
