catty

the best way for me to see a film in a lovely theatre in paris is towards the end of my visit, otherwise i am in a time change haze. last year i saw 'the women', not for the first time, but for the first time in a theatre and in paris the night before flying home.
i am sure the designer adrian would have been pleased to know i was drinking in his glorious costumes on the big screen. he was already extremely successful, but imagine designing for all of the actresses for the one movie.
this gorgeous film experience is chalk full of sweetness (joan fontaine), bitchiness (rosalind russell), and plain old common sense (norma shearer), all beautifully dressed up in monochrome.
i read that adrian knew what colors would deliver best in black and white, something i had never given a thought to before.
the film is pure delight.
