maybe ava gardner got a little crazy in life but she is always very focused onscreen. in 'THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA' she does not play a party girl, though she does like to dance barefoot. the elegant humphrey bogart takes her by the hand and leads her from her poor surroundings to the big time. don't let the photo that accompanies this posting fool you. this movie is color saturated and the entire film is like watching a series of postcards come to life. perhaps it was a new technique the studios used to keep the crowds coming back for more.
