once in a great while i stumble upon a film i really like as part of a box set. apparently, in london they were knocking out suspense dramas like the hitchcock hour t.v. series. among all the fun b movies, i discovered the actress diana dors, england's beloved version of bardot/monroe. when it comes to being bad, diana dors takes them both.
the film 'last page' was given a racier title for the states and 'man bait' was pretty much the appropriate title anyway. a not too bad girl/bad boy try to sucker good guy in a noirish little murder mystery. even though the actor george brent (always great) is in it, diana kind of steals the show. she is just a really good actress that you can't take your eyes off, mostly cause she is so unfamiliar.
diana had an illustrious career and even popped up in a hitchcock hour. she is always a treat.

enjoyed this film and loved diana's sexy full pouty lips with her sensual starlet quality but i was derailed from her character when peter reynolds charming and naughty scenes were on deck. he played the dirty rotten scoundrel to a tee. peter embodied the handsome looks of james franscious and the vocal drawal and pre-exophthalmos eyes of peter lorre. fun film!
