if it's love it's not a stranger

there is a scene in 'love with the proper stranger' where nathalie wood's character describes the vacancy she sees in the eyes of those she 'knows' are single. she is telling this to the fellow whose baby she is carrying as a result of a one night stand. she speaks without any ulterior motive, just sharing an observation with someone she does not know that well. it is as natural as can be.

robert mulligan directed so many great movies. this one followed 'to kill a mockingbird' which my parents took me to see on my birthday but i fell asleep. i caught up with it later in life...
