GO GO GO JOHNNY GO

  • every film john schlesinger directed between 1963-1971 is going to make an appearance here. my personal favorite,'darling' (1963) was the second of three he would make with my personal fave, julie christie. in 1971 schlesinger rocked the world right out of their appreciation of his english sensibilities with a movie so shocking it was actually banned. in 1971 this director showed us that he had discovered america. i am sure there were many great american actors who desired to work with him. the winners were john voight, revealing the beauty, and dustin hoffman hiding behind it. 'midnight cowboy' is based on the 1965 book by james leo herlihy and it is one beautiful if not so pretty love story.
if there is a single message to be learned in this film it is that TENDERNESS is a motivation to be honored, and it is an honor to witness this stunning display.
