no accidents here. every word spoken, every glance exchanged, and every sexual implication under the sun is premeditated and delivered straight to your hearts delight. billy wilder, perhaps more than any director in hollywood, succeeded in getting away with murder. in 1944 when he made 'double indemnity' with barbara stanwyck and fred macmurray there were restrictions galore. god forbid just about everything that billy wanted to reveal. while watching this classic you cannot help but think about how times have changed. i say long live the production code and the geniuses who could wrap it around their little fingers.
