sometimes it is very hard to accept, 'no', for an answer. one evening i was watching a movie i had never seen, which is quite normal for most people. minute by minute i was pulled deeper and deeper into this drama of a loving married couple. after several scenes i hit pause and went into the other room to ask my husband to please come look at this with me. he didn't want to. i returned to the film and in about ten minutes i got up again and asked him to please come and watch it with me. he didn't want to.
after the third try i gave up. all i really wanted was for him to agree that mabel was not crazy.
'WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE' was directed by john cassavettes, one of the bravest men to ever hold a mirror up to the dream life we live instead of a waking life.
gena rowlands acts her intensely written role as if she is making it up on the spot. every second of this film feels like eavesdropping and it is a revelation what you learn. nick is played by peter falk, but what wonderful thing can i say about peter falk that hasn't been said? this is a major film in my life.

could this have been the inspiration for your song "don't leave me" from "Woman Under the Influence" Pal Shazar.
