border crossing

in the brilliant film of tennessee williams' play 'night of the iguana', defrocked priest richard burton gropes through his thankless task of driving tourists through mexico while helplessly trying to dissuade sue lyon from her 'won't take no for an answer' intimations that as soon as the tour is over she will introduce him to her dad who will set him up in a church of his own. despite her attempts to lure him across state lines he tells her that the only border he's crossing is the border of sanity.

on this cold as all heck northeast winter night it doesn't hurt to imagine the shoe on the other foot.
