looking into truth


"She was such an earth mother," says actor Maxwell Cauldfield, a close friend of Page who worked with her and also was influenced by Dean. "I think that was part of Dean's attraction to her. Being with her was like being with someone you could adore, someone you could put on a pedestal, because of her connectedness to the cycle of life."

They had known each other through the Actors Studio - Page was a founding member, while Dean was admitted in 1952 - but they became close in late 1953, when both were cast in The Immoralist, Ruth and Augustus Goetz's adaptation of Andre Gide's novel.
