born in harlem, ny, sammy was considered the "greatest living entertainer in the world." i read his book, 'yes i can' and was amazed by so much of his story. 'When Sammy Davis, Jr. published his autobiography in 1965, it was an immediate long-running bestseller as well as a revelation.'
he was so very young when he began to perform on stage. he married an actress (mai britt) who stars in one of my favorite, though seriously hard to find, movies 'the unfaithfuls.'
sammy had friends in high places while facing the prejudice of low minds. for such an adored man, life must have felt both wonderful and unfair.
