what's in a name

the part polish/part czech kim novak learned how to hold her ground from the start when she refused to have her name changed by the studios to 'kit marlowe.' crazy executives! 'novak' is such a super name.

she loved working with james stewart. she claims his passion for aviation suffered from the hollywood trap. kim made a nice exit from making movies into a world of trees, friends, and a life with her husband who is a veterinarian.

'The work I did in Vertigo meant nothing if no one cared about the movie. Luckily, Vertigo had a revival and people had begun to recognize there was something special and it gained in reputation. But it just as well could have ended up rotting in film cans somewhere.'-Kim Novak

it amazes me which classic films got off to a slow start with the public.
