one might think a film called 'careful, he might hear you' would be scary. it is, but not in the traditional way of movies. what is frightening is witnessing how one small child can be a pawn who continues to get moved back and forth in the name of what's good for him.
the acting in this 1983 australian film is impeccable. regal actress wendy hughes has won many awards and claims she knew from an early age that she wanted to be the center of attention. she must have been able to find great empathy for this tangled yet warm story about a child who wanted nothing more than to climb trees.
