could have fooled me. at first i thought it was then i knew it wasn't. garbo beautifully played 'anna christie' in both the silent version as well as the talkie. in fact, the first line the public heard greta speak was 'gimme a whiskey' as the tired 'anna' sits down in the 'ladies' room of a public house. the deeply introverted actress sips and scowls and when she laughs it hurts you too.
i do not know who this actress in the photo is, unless it is greta in a test shot! what i do know is that it's a great role and that these cotton gloves have been on my wish list for many years.
