such talent! watching michael redgrave as the stern and defeated governor of 'Ruxton Towers Reformatory' in 'the loneliness of the long distance runner' makes me shiver. his character's only hope, to light up his dreary existance, was for his boys to win the cup at the upcoming race against the posh boys school. alas, head runner, played by tom courtenay, is not a team player.
redgrave scored big outside that playing field with his children. both daughters, lynn redgrave and vanessa redgrave, have graced many a quality film with terrific performances. for the novice, try lynn's turn in 'georgy girl' and vanessa's beautiful performance in 'howard's end.' one proud papa to be sure.
