john garfield was born Jacob Julius Garfinkle in New York City. one of the coolest and talented actors in this world, i have yet to see him in a film that comes close to how special he appears.
both of them starred in 1946's 'the postman always rings twice.' this is their joint legacy. lana's 'cora' comes off like a far from innocent deer in the headlights and john's 'frank' comes off like a failed boxer who had too many women on his mind. the story is the stuff of pure pulp but still..... i blame the director.
