valerie kaprisky and richard gere made a valiant attempt in 1983 to remake one of the most beloved films to come out of the french new wave. 1960's 'a bout de souffle' is considered a masterpiece. 'breathless' ('souffle' mock 2) had no business being made! alas, it was the beginning and end of valerie's american career. however, she has been working steadily in france all this time.
