why i love the movies

how nice that michael curtiz and i share a birthday. director of 173 (!) films, this man from budapest only received one oscar but it was for one of the most famous films of all time: 'casablanca.' another one of his films which also featured the great sydney greenstreet was 1949's 'flamingo road', starring joan crawford as an ex-carnival girl trying to make good in a town he runs. the slap in the face he gets from her is just the beginning in the bitter fight between the two.
