jim carroll died yesterday. patti smith, poetess supreme, said jim carroll was recognized as the best poet of his generation. high praise from one who knows a thing or two about brilliance. jim was one of the few serious writers whose work, at times, can really make me laugh. his delivery was perfect, his understanding of his life experience was so clear. the man has truly influenced me.
