something wicked this way comes

i have read lots of stuff about the stones. blame it on my mick fixation. well, in the early days these deeply expressive music lovers wanted some of what the beatles had. in two words, a hit. john and paul actually went to one of their sessions and gave them 'i wanna be your man' which did in fact become a hit for the stones before being released by the beatles. judging from the 1970 documentary style film 'one plus one', they also wanted some of the glory the four happy lads captured on film. they enlisted french new wave director jean luc godard and the best film in their world was definitely not born but i loved it.
as the film progresses through the recording of the great song, 'sympathy for the devil,' jean luc edits in all kinds of current footage guaranteed to make you lament this world. that aside, this movie is very voyeuristic and if you ever wished to be in on a recording session, this is really fun. keith was stoned but beautiful, brian was alive, and mick was just so intriguing. the stones vs the beatles times are a million light years behind us and aside from the fact that this film would not score them any points in a debate, the rolling stones are just magical.
