shaken not stirred, yet

all i did was look up the year of hitchcock's 'marnie' and to my surprise i saw conflicting opinions about my favorite hitchcock of them all.
the year was 1964 and sean connery had already established himself as james bond. maybe some people had trouble separating the actor from that role. anyway, in 'marnie' he is absolutely gorgeous and convincing as a patient man in love with a sleeping tiger.
tippi hedren as the title character is seriously good, but no matter what she is doing she is a bit odd. when she gets ink on her blouse she really flips out. her voice is always nervous. she keeps changing her hair color. she does everything she can to get through to her mother with the exception of demanding the truth. she wins you over from the start.
lots of scenes look 'theatrical' but the predicament which brings two people in need together is wonderfully played out. psychological baby steps abound and you will be proud of hitchcock for including elements from that new frontier.
the look of this film is super. trippy colors to highlight trippy tippi. diane baker, who plays connery's seductive sis-in-law, is always great.
if this film is indeed somewhat over the top and hokey, so be it cause it's awesome. enjoy.
