mother and child
actresses anna magnani and marisa pavan played mother and daughter in the 1955 film, 'the rose tattoo', based on the play by tennessee williams. magnani won an oscar for her role. marisa received a nomination.
after seeing this photo, the first thing that came to my mind was pal's song "small talk with the ticket man" something about "holding my bags in each hand and tears in both my eyes"... that song was playing in my car cd player this morning on my way to work when i came to a stop light, i looked over to the other lane and saw a mom holding her daughter like this both with shoulder seat belts intertwined on their commute into the city. i assumed they were mother and daughter.
