eloquent as well as smart

long before sean connery and james bond there was peter lorre and mr. moto. perhaps not the dashing leading man stereotype but it matters not. you can't take your eyes off him. as detective 'mr. moto' peter starred in a series of successful films. this month you can treat your eyes to 1937's 'thank you, mr. moto.' simply go to hulu.com and watch this beautiful film for free.
i love peter lorre. he was an amazing actor, capable of many different roles but whoever he played, he always aroused a sense of protectiveness in the viewer. his small size, his big eyes, his nervous vibe, and his incredible voice. as a child he scared the heck out of me but as an adult i seriously appreciate him.
this film is truly beautiful. it takes place in the orient and from the scene of peter smoking a pipe in his tent in the gobi desert, to the posh drawing rooms of peiping, the atmosphere is truly intoxicating. murder, mayhem, ancient scrolls and prayer. once again, a film that successfully combines suspense and thrills with honor and virtue. super fun.
