americana beauty

in the hands of director billy wilder, the magnificent 'days of heaven' could have been another 'double indemnity.' swept away by the epic beauty of the visual, this story of deception, lust and murder transforms into a totally different experience.
to watch this 1978 film is a step back into a time when sam shepard took one's breath away. richard gere and brooke adams are the leads in love but it is sam who gives weight to the deceit and sorrow that hangs around his farm like a hive of bees waiting to come crashing to the ground.
terence malick is the director who gave to the world this glimpse into a dream that we must pray is not like heaven at all.
